Fast growing trees may be planted on individual farmlands to meet the lumber demand in Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Huseyngulu Bagirov told journalists.
"A lumber shortage is evident in Azerbaijan. We seek not to use new forests for this purpose, as they belong to a special category. At the same time we cannot stop the use of lumber in the economy. Fast growing trees can be planted on individual farmlands to resolve this problem. We can use Latvia's experience in this matter," Bagirov said.
