The public commission of the Iranian parliament has approved a new project on the insurance of the young people. The project is linked with young job seekers and envisages providing monthly payments of $300 to young people, said the chairman of the commission Hadi Mugaddasi, the Iranian website shomalnews.com reports.

Mugaddasi said the project has several advantages. First of all, the country will specify the statistics of unemployed youth. On the other hand, the project will create a way for young people to find jobs upon their specialty. At the same time, it will affect the social problems of youth.

"Under the project, this amount will be paid to young job seekers for two years as a monthly salary, and as soon as the young people get a job, they will repay the money the state gradually during 50 months," said Mugaddasi.

According to the latest statistical data, made public last spring by the Statistics Center of Iran, the unemployment rate was 14.6 percent, but some experts believe that it exceeds 30 percent.

The Iranian development plan for 2005-2025 indicates that the annual economic growth in the country should be at least eight percent in order to reduce unemployment. In 1997-2005, during the presidency of Mohammad Khatami, about 600,000 new jobs were opened with an average economic growth of five percent.

A few months ago, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said last year the country opened 1.6 million new jobs, but in the current year (begins March 21), 2.5 million new jobs were opened.
