An earthquake that jolted Turkey will not affect the seismic activity in Azerbaijan, National Seismological Service Center Director Gurban Yetirmishli told Trend today.
He said the quake is recorded in the normal background level.
The earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale jolted Van city in Turkey at 3:41 pm. Tremors were felt in Diyarbekir, Batman, Sirnak, Mus, Erzurum, Bingol, Bitlis, Siirt, Mardin towns. There are damages and human casualties. According to the Turkish media outlets, death toll can reach 1,000 people.
