Some 570 religious organizations passed the state registration in Azerbaijan, including 20 non-Islamic. Thirty religious organizations were denied registration on legal grounds, but later two of them were registered after after the removal of the identified deficiencies, State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of the Republic told Trend on Tuesday.
Documents of 191 Muslim communities have been returned to the Office of Caucasus Muslims due to the contradiction of documents with legal requirements.
Sometimes controversial issues in the registration process are resolved in court. But in all cases only religious organizations were the initiators of solving problem in court.
Religious communities which have previously been registered, but for some reason weren't able to register anew, remain valid older ID and do not lose their legal status.
As a rule, any problems in the process of state registration are not related to the State Committee, but to the religious communities themselves.
The process of re-registration of previously registered religious communities began along with the first registration of religious communities in accordance with the legislation in September 2009.
