Nargiz Pashayeva awarded Commander's Cross Order of Merit of Hungary (PHOTO)

Rector of Moscow State University`s Baku branch Nargiz Pashayeva has been awarded Commander's Cross Order of Merit of Hungary in a ceremony at UNS theatre, AzerTAg state information agency reported.

Pashayeva was honored in accordance with an executive order of Hungary`s President for her contribution to promoting the Hungarian culture in Azerbaijan.

Hungarian ambassador to Azerbaijan Zsolt Csutora read out the Hungarian President`s executive order, and handed over the award to the Rector of Moscow State University`s Baku branch.

The ambassador said Azerbaijan and Hungary had excellent relations. Csutora said cultural events were bringing the people of the two countries closer to each other, praising Nargiz Pashayeva`s role on this front.

The ambassador said great work had recently been done to promote Azerbaijan`s rich culture worldwide. The diplomat hailed Azerbaijan`s role in stimulating inter-cultural dialogue.
Mrs. Pashayeva said she was proud to receive such a high award conferred on her by the Hungarian President.

The Rector of Moscow State University`s Baku branch described the Order as the recognition of the importance of inter-cultural dialogue.

Pashayeva spoke of Hungary`s cultural legacy, praising the Hungarian folk music. She said Hungary was a first foreign country she visited 32 years ago.
The award-giving ceremony featured a concert, which involved Hungarian Duna quartet and a dance band.
