Import of religious books in Azerbaijan can be simplified

State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan proposes to simplify the procedure of import of the Koran and other holy books into the country, work is currently underway in this direction, chairman of the committee Elshad Isgenderov told reporters on Saturday.

"For people importing in the country Koran, when entering the country many difficulties were created. If the holy books do not have translation, distortion, there is no information that could distort their interpretation, these books can be admitted into the country without examination," Isgenderov said.

He said the registration process of shops that sell religious literature is currently underway. In Baku, 25 stores have already received approval for sale of religious literature.

Isgenderov said the state of stores that sell religious literature, also plays a big role. Sometimes the holy books are sold in places unfit and unworthy of them.

"After completion of consideration of applications for permission to sell the holy books so we will be engaged in such monitor. In general, the aim is that the shops which sell religious books, which reflect the national and spiritual traditions, must comply with modern design. Appearance of these shops must also be attractive," Isgenderov said.
