It is planned to prepare a document for the development of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) till 2020, the ANAS President, Akif Alizadeh said at the first meeting of the Board of Directors of Scientific Institutions on Nov. 15.
According to Alizadeh, the implementation of the National Strategy for the development of science in Azerbaijan in 2009-2015 is nearing completion. The staffs of all scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS must submit their proposals to the ANAS Presidium with regard to the preparation of a document on the academy's development until 2020.
Alizadeh stressed the importance of the media coverage of a great work done in the academy, and noted that the main task is to promote the results of research and innovative results both in the country and in the world community.
ANAS President also touched upon the issue of training scientific personnel and noted that scientists whose candidacies are nominated to the ANAS Presidium for the 'President's Award for Youth' have a lot of potential. The heads of research institutions should contribute to the development of their research, Alizadeh said. According to him, young researchers should be sent to the research institutions in Europe and the results of their research should be discussed by the academic councils.
