The new coach of the Azerbaijani national soccer team will be a foreigner, the President of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) Rovnag Abdullayev told reporters Nov. 7.
He said a one-year agreement will be signed with a mid-level coach, and a final decision will be made upon the end of this period.
"Berti Vogts has left us halfway and gone away," Abdullayev said commenting on German coach Vogts's resignation.
Vogts resigned as the Azerbaijani national soccer team coach Oct. 17.
"Now, we are thinking about a new coach," Abdullayev added.
Further commenting on the match between the Azerbaijani and Ukrainian soccer clubs, the Karabakh and the Dnipro, held as part of the UEFA Europa League, the AFFA president said Karabakh played well, but it was just unlucky.
