Former chairman of the International Bank of Azerbaijan Jahangir Hajiyev has been detained, the press service of Azerbaijan's Interior Ministry told Trend Dec.5.
A preventive measure in the form of arrest for a period of 4 months has been chosen by the Narimanov district court against him.
Earlier, former senior officers of the bank and entrepreneurs who have taken big loans in the International Bank of Azerbaijan and have not returned them, were arrested. They are the former director of the Central branch of IBA Ilgar Abdullayev, former director of the Transport branch of the IBA Kanan Orujov, the director of the branch of the International Bank of Azerbaijan in Dubai Adil Huseynov, Director General of the Inter Security Ltd. Ibrahim Huseynov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Azerinshaatservis Arif Hasanov, Deputy Director of Trek İnvest JSC, which is the founder of Azerinshaatservis Ltd. Ali Alishov, Director of İnter Glass Fariz Muradov and several others.
A criminal case was filed towards the bank under article 178 (fraud) and other articles of the Criminal Code.
Moreover, the former head of the bank Jahangir Hajiyev was involved in the investigation. Hajiyev has repeatedly given testimony.
