Additional 100 freight cars will be delivered to Azerbaijan from Russia in 2016, head of the press service of Azerbaijan Railways, Nadir Azmammadov told Trend Feb. 5.
The delivery will be carried out under a contract with Russian Uralvagonzavod OJSC, concluded the last year, he said.
"Under the contract, Azerbaijan is to receive 3,100 freight cars of different types, including tank cars, open wagons, platforms for container transportation, grain-carriers and others," said Azmammadov.
Some 3,000 cars have already been delivered to Azerbaijan and are being used by the Azerbaijan Railways, he said, adding the remaining 100 cars will be delivered this year.
Azmammadov also said Azerbaijan Railways CJSC will continue the renewal of its rail car fleet.
