Baku, Azerbaijan, July 1
By Anakhanum Idayatova – Trend:
From 1 July 2016 onwards, in a visa centre in Baku, the nationals of Azerbaijan and other third countries will be able to lodge applications for Schengen short stay visas for travelling to Latvia as well as Estonia, Slovakia and Slovenia – the countries represented by the Embassy of Latvia in the issuance of visas, said the website of Latvia’s Foreign Ministry.
Cooperation with the visa centre is expected, by saving customers’ time, to significantly increase the quality of services provided. Instead of arriving at the embassy, the visa applicants will also be able to submit their applications at the visa centre, having scheduled an appointment in advance at a time of their most convenience.
Under cooperation arrangements with VFS Global, the documents accepted will be forwarded to the embassy of Latvia in Baku for processing. The visa centre will also offer additional services, including consultations on the required documents, filling out a visa application in an electronic form and taking photographs, thereby facilitating the application process.
As before, it will also be possible to apply for visas at the Latvian embassy. Therefore, the embassy recommends that travel be planned well in advance and the submission of documents scheduled at least two weeks ahead of departure.
