Despite the current background of a growing global instability the multiculturalism and tolerance in Azerbaijan based on the coexistence of different religions and nationalities is a model for everyone, says Peter Tase, political analyst, expert on international relations at the Marquette University.
Azerbaijan believes that multiculturalism is the only way for the development of mankind in the future, because in the age of globalization, when the exchange of information and, in general, the processes of integration are active, engaging in self-isolation is simply disastrous, Tase wrote in his article published on the Foreign Policy News website.
“Taking intercultural dialogue as one of the most pressing challenges of the contemporary world, Azerbaijan has been sponsoring World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku once every two years since 2011,” said the article.
Azerbaijan also hosted the 7th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations April 25-27, 2016, the author wrote.
By using the UN tribune, Azerbaijan has once again demonstrated its multiculturalism traditions, and urged the world countries to fully respect principles of tolerance, intercultural and inter-civilization dialogue, Tase said in his article.
In the same vein, the Baku International Multiculturalism Centre will continue to foster intercultural dialogue, peace and stability, promote multicultural values of Azerbaijan and strengthen cultural cooperation among nations, the article said.
