BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 15. The European Wrestling Championship among athletes under 17 (U-17) continues in the capital of Albania, Tirana, Trend reports.
Azerbaijani athlete Ruzanna Mammadova (57 kg) started confidently at the continental championship. The athlete first defeated the Spaniard Rosa Rodriguez, and then the Turkish Asli Koelen. Mammadova defeated Susanna Horbik from Poland in the semi-finals and reached the final of the European Championship for the second time. The representative of Azerbaijan in the decisive match lost to the Hungarian Sophie Ritter and won a silver medal.
The national team of Azerbaijan in Greco-Roman wrestling won one gold and five bronze medals at the European Championship. Turan Dashdamirov (45 kg) defeated all his rivals and became the European champion. Bronze medals were won by Elnar Ziyadov (48 kg), Ali Seyidalili (51 kg), Aykhan Javadov (55 kg), Elmin Aliyev (80 kg) and Mahir Gurbanly (110 kg).
