AGHDARA, Azerbaijan, October 3. Participants of the international conference “Addressing the Issue of Missing Persons: Upholding Families’ Right to Know the Truth” observed the onsite demining process in Aghdara, Trend reports.
They were informed about the demining works carried out by the demining agency in the territories liberated from occupation.
Furthermore, it was brought to their attention that thousands of people, including women and children, have fallen victim to mines during the thirty years of occupation. It was noted that laid mines have hindered the construction and reconstruction process underway in the region and the return of former internally displaced persons to their homelands.
The international conference “Addressing the Issue of Missing Persons: Upholding Families’ Right to Know the Truth”, organized by the Azerbaijani State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Citizens and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), was held in Baku on 2 October.
