Indigenous residents of Azerbaijan's Jabrayil celebrate City Day

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 4. The City Day is celebrated in Jabrayil city with the participation of residents who returned to their native lands, Trend reports.

According to information, the event is attended by Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Adil Karimli, special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Gubadli, Jabrayil, and Zangilan districts Vahid Hajiyev, intellectuals, artists, public figures, and residents of Jabrayil.

The event, which began with a concert program with the participation of cultural and art figures, showcases exhibitions reflecting the ancient and modern history and cultural heritage of the district.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev announced the liberation of the city of Jabrayil and several villages of the district from occupation by the Azerbaijani army on October 4, 2020. The villages of Karhulu, Shukurbayli, Yukhari Maralyan, Chereken, Dashkesan, Khorovlu, Dejal, Mahmudlu, and Jafarabad of Jabrayil district were recaptured along with the city of Jabrayil.

According to the decree signed by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on July 31, 2023, the Day of Jabrayil City is celebrated annually on October 4.

Similarly to other territories liberated from occupation, large-scale improvement and construction works are now underway in Jabrayil. The resettlement to Jabrayil city started on September 26 this year and has already welcomed its first residents. To date, 133 families, a total of 433 people have returned to their homeland and started living in comfortable, spacious, and bright apartments built there.

To note, on October 4, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration of the residential complex built in Jabrayil city and handed over the keys of apartments to the residents of the city who have moved to the new houses.
