BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 19. Asian countries are confronting significant challenges and threats in the face of global instability, Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Republic of Uzbekistan, said at the 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly held in Baku, Trend reports.
“The theme of the plenary session is extremely relevant for all participants, because in the context of global instability, Asian countries are facing serious challenges and threats, the effective solution of which requires strengthening regional cooperation and mutual support,” she said.
The chairperson also noted that particular attention is being paid to integration processes in Central Asia, which contribute to strengthening peace and stability not only in the region but across the world.
Narbayeva stressed that on Uzbekistan's initiative, the 150th jubilee Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union will be held in Tashkent on April 5-9 and invited her colleagues to participate in the event, expressing confidence that it will make an important contribution to strengthening the role of parliaments in ensuring sustainable development of Asian countries.
"We believe it is essential to continue the systematic dialogue on political and security issues within our organization and actively promote a unified and clear position on international matters based on common interests. Parliamentary diplomacy should play an important role in conflict prevention as one of the key mechanisms for building trust between states. At the same time, parliaments must create legal frameworks for the effective implementation of agreements reached at the highest levels and actively participate in the exchange of legislative practices," she added.
