The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR) faces problems on the way of establishing the National Park Gey-Gel. Despite MENR addressed the executive powers of Hanlar, Dashkesan and Geranboy regions with relevant applications for allotting the area for the national park, the issue has not been solved, the Ministry told Trend.
"Creating the park within the present boundaries of the State Nature Reserve Gey -Gel contradicts the principles of the nature protection. The area has a great potential for the development of tourism. However, the status of the nature reserve creates problems between the citizens, willing to holiday there and the guard, as the State Nature Reserve Gey -Gel has the status of the especially protected area. Under the paragraph 19 of the Law” On especially protected areas and objects” entrance is prohibited there without a special permission. The Nature Reserve’s guard will take measures against the lawbreakers”, the Ministry considers.
