Caspian complex ecological monitoring department of the Ecology and Natural resources ministry conducted monitoring of 995 km beach area in Azerbaijan, the ministry press-service told Trend .
Dissatisfactory environmental condition of the beaches, lack of development and security perspectives, illegal annexation of 130m coastal area and violation of sanitary norms and rules have been discovered as a result of monitoring. Most of the beaches are in bad condition due to anthropogenic influence. 20% of Nabran beach is covered by marches; phenols, heavy metals and oil products in excessive norms were found in the sea water.
Only 7 km out of 34 km coastal area of Sumgayit are suitable for beach. More than 4 m2 of Novhani beach is covered with swamps.
