WHO head passes away

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Lee Jong-wook, died on 22 May at 13:00pm [Baku time], the Azerbaijani Health Ministry announced.

He was died of a blood clot on his brain.

Late this April Jong-wook was to Azerbaijan with a working visit.

The head of the WHO was born in Seoul on 12 April 1945. He is a Ph.d in medical sciences of the National University of Seoul, holds an MS in public healthcare from the Hawaii University. He worked at the WHO over 20 years. In May 2003 he was appointed the WHO Director.
