Azerbaijan’s Deputy Interior Minister: 25 Human Trafficking Cases Discovered

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend / The Deputy Interior Minister of Azerbaijan, Oruj Zalov, stated that during the event dedicated to the discrimination against women that nearly 2,000 women work in the Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan.

He added that also woman employees of the Interior Ministries have been promoted to the rank of colonel. In addition, Zalov stressed that 25% of the crimes committed in Azerbaijan are linked with women (violence against women, etc.). According to Zalov, over the three months of 2007, the Department for Fighting against Human Trafficking discovered 25 cases of woman trafficking, criminal cases have been filed and 32 people have been made charged. Zalov stated that the Ministry had established offices in several districts of Azerbaijan for woman who encountered problems.
