Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Ilhamgizi / A group of journalists visited the grave of the late editor-in-chief of the Monitor journal, Elmar Huseynov, on 3 May due to the International Day of Freedom of Speech. Editors-in-chief, directors of journalist organizations and NGOs, MPs, and public figures spoke during the ceremony.
Rauf Arifoglu, the editor-in-chief of the Yeni Musavat newspaper, Shahbaz Khuduoghlu, the editor-in-chief of the Ganun journal, MP Panah Huseyn, and other attendees spoke on the state of freedom of speech in Azerbaijan. They urged that the assassination of Elmar Huseynov should be disclosed, as well as Eynulla Fatullayev, the editor-in-chief of the Gundalik Azerbaijan and Realny Azerbaijan newspapers should be released. They also demanded to stop the oppression of press.
