The outlines of Azerbaijan's economic policy are clearly defined within the boundaries of ensuring sustainable development, Deputy Director of the International Institute for Energy Policy and Diplomacy of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, expert of the Institute’s Sustainable Development Center, Candidate of Economic Sciences Igbal Guliyev told Trend.
According to Guliyev, sustainable development is associated with the growth of industrial production, technological renewal of fixed assets, the introduction of high technologies and depends on the investment support of industrial enterprises and an increase in their investment potential.
“More or less, Azerbaijan, as a key player in the region, which has geopolitical importance in terms of ensuring global energy security, will focus on reforming the economy in terms of the global transformation of the energy sector, decarbonization and reduction of CO2 emissions,” Guliyev said.
The expert believes that this approach is reflected in the goal set by the Azerbaijani government to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the country's energy balance to 30 percent by 2030.
