Sales of food, drinks, tobacco products in Baku increase

Sales of food, beverages and tobacco products in the trading network of Baku increased by 3 percent from January through July 2021 compared to the same period of last year and exceeded 12.7 billion manat ($7.47 billion), Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee.

On annual basis, trade turnover in Baku increased by 3.6 percent and totaled about 430 million manat ($253 million).

At the same time, sales of non-food products increased by 0.5 percent over the year and amounted to almost 6.34 billion manat ($3.73 billion), said the report.

Some 36.8 percent of the sold products fell on enterprises with the status of a legal entity, 41.6 percent - trade objects owned by individual entrepreneurs, 21.6 percent - on the capital markets.

In 2020, trade turnover in Baku increased by 0.5 percent compared to 2019 and amounted to 23 billion manat ($13.5 billion).

Sales of food, beverages and tobacco products in the capital increased by 6.4 percent compared to 2019 and amounted to more than 11.7 billion manat ($6.88 billion). Sales of non-food products decreased by 4.6 percent and amounted to 11.2 billion manat ($6.58 billion).

Some 29.4 percent of the sold products fell on enterprises with the status of a legal entity, 54.2 percent - trade objects owned by individual entrepreneurs, 16.4 percent - on the capital markets.
