The export of Azerbaijan’s hazelnuts decreased in 2021, Chairman of the country’s Hazelnut Producers and Exporters Association Ismayil Orujov told Trend.
"At the end of 2021, the volume of hazelnut exports in value terms amounted to $108 million, which is almost $8 million less than in 2020," he said.
The main importers of Azerbaijani hazelnuts in 2021 were Russia, Italy and Germany.
According to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, from January through November 2021, the country exported 16,950 tons of hazelnuts totaling about $97.47 million. During the year, the export of Azerbaijani hazelnuts decreased by 5.6 percent.
Azerbaijan produces the following varieties of hazelnuts: Atababa, Ashrafli, Ghalib, Ganja, Khachmaz, Sachagly, Topgara and Yagly.
