BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 16. Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $12.1 billion (taking into account statistical value of crude oil and natural gas, customs clearance of which was not completed) from January through March 2022, including exports - $9.2 million and import - $2.2 billion, Trend reports citing the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan.

According to committee, positive trade balance exceeded $6.34 billion.

Legal and physical persons in Azerbaijan conducted trade operations with partners from 152 countries in the reporting period, committee said.

Azerbaijan exported its products to 100 countries and imported from 140 countries from January through March 2022.

Foreign trade turnover in real prices increased by 1.7 times, in real terms - by 9.5 percent, including exports - by 16.8 percent, and imports - by 3.7 percent compared to first quarter of 2021, committee noted.

At the same time, Italy accounted for 36.3 percent of total volume of Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover during this period, Turkey - 13.2 percent, Russia - 5.8 percent, China - 4.4 percent, Ukraine - 3.7 percent, Portugal - 3.6 percent, Israel - 3.1 percent, Greece - 2.6 percent, Georgia - 2.4 percent, Thailand - 2.3 percent, Germany - 2.2 percent, Kazakhstan - 1.7 percent, the UK - 1.6 percent, India and Romania - 1.3 percent, 1.1 percent each for Tunisia, Iran and Spain, and 11.2 percent for other countries.
