Azerbaijani tobacco producer seeking to expand exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. Tabaterra CJSC, an Azerbaijani manufacturer of tobacco products, is studying opportunities to expand markets for exports, the CJSC Director Elman Javanshir told Trend.

According to Javanshir, the company exports its products to the Georgian market.

"Our enterprise is provided with the most modern equipment and has eight production lines. Its production capacity is 14 billion cigarettes per year. Besides, our company produces tobacco of the Tabaterra brand, as well as international brands of British American Tobacco, Japan Tobacco International and Imperial Tobacco," he said.

Besides, according to him, at the current stage, the company plans to start exporting its products under the 'Made in Azerbaijan' brand.

"Therefore, our company signed an export agreement with its international partner - British American Tobacco. Within its framework, the company's products are now exported to the Georgian market, and work is underway to find new markets," Javanshir noted.

Also, within the framework of the development strategy of Tabaterra, work is underway to improve the quality of local tobacco, expand its use in the local market, the company’s director further said.

"The main raw material used in our field of activity is tobacco. We intend to gradually bring the quality of local tobacco to world standards and use it both in the production of local products and international brands," he added.

Tabaterra CJSC has been operating as a resident of the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park since 2018.
