BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 1. Production of wheat in Azerbaijan slightly increased by the end of 2021 and amounted to 18,523 tons, Trend reports via the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan.
"Wheat reserves in Azerbaijan amounted to 567,329 tons as of the beginning of 2021. Furthermore, more than 1.1 million tons of wheat was imported," the committee said.
The volume of wheat in Azerbaijan in 2021, taking into account reserves, local production and imports, exceeded 3.5 million tons, which is 12.23 percent, or 495,094 tons less than in 2020.
"Of the total volume, over two million tons were allocated for the production of flour and cereals, 53,535 tons - for the production of other food products, 4,121 tons - for the production of alcohol. In addition, 143,421 tons of wheat were directed to the production of non-food products," the committee informed
The remaining wheat amounted to 325,665 tons at the end of 2021 and at the beginning of 2022.
