BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 27. Cashless payments in Azerbaijan increased by 2.2 times, while the growth in e-commerce amounted to 2.7 times from January through September 2022, Head of payment systems department at Azerbaijani Central Bank (CBA) Kamala Gurbanova said, Trend reports citing 'Vergiler' newspaper of the State Tax Service of Azerbaijan.
According to her, the turnover of cashless payments in the reporting period increased by 12 percent - up to 42 percent compared to the same period the previous year.
"I want to note that share of cashless payments in total turnover amounted to 23 and 32 percent in 2020 and 2021, respectively. From January through September 2022, cashless payments within the country exceeded the indicator of the same period last year by 2.1 times," Gurbanova said.
