Azerbaijan sees increase in agricultural output

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 20. Azerbaijan’s agricultural output in current prices amounted to 456.2 million manat ($268.35 million) in January 2023, up by 3.3 percent compared to January 2022, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

According to the report, livestock production increased by 3.4 percent, up to 433.1 million manat ($254.7 million), while crop production value reached 23.1 million manat ($13.5 million), rising by 2 percent.

According to the primary data of the committee, 1.064 million hectares were sown with winter crops for the harvest of 2023, including wheat - 664,000 hectares (62.4 percent), barley – 400,000 hectares (37.59 percent), and rye - 100 hectares (0.01 percent).

In January 2023, 45,600 tons of meat, 160,700 tons of milk, and 182,100 chicken eggs were produced in Azerbaijan. Meat production increased by 2.8 percent, milk – by 1 percent, and chicken eggs – by 16 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

Azerbaijan’s agricultural output in current prices amounted to 10.9 billion manat ($6.4 billion) in 2022, which is 3.4 percent higher than in 2021. The production of livestock products in value terms increased by 3.4 percent, to 5.4 billion manat ($3.1 billion), and in the field of crop production – by 3.3 percent, to 5.5 billion manat ($3.2 billion).

Azerbaijan’s agricultural output in current prices amounted to 9.16 billion manat ($5.39 billion) in 2021, which is 3.4 percent more than in 2020.

During this period, production in the livestock sector increased by 2.8 percent, to 4.6 billion manat ($2.7 billion), and in the field of crop production – by 4 percent, to 4.51 billion manat ($2.6 billion).
