BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 9. Azerbaijan's industrial businesses and private entrepreneurs produced outputs worth 15.7 billion manat ($9.2 billion), representing a 2.8 percent decrease from January through March 2024, Trend reports.
According to Azerbaijan's State Statistics Committee, production in the oil and gas sector climbed by 0.2 percent and in the non-oil sector by 7.8 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
Meanwhile, the mining sector accounted for 64.5 percent of
industrial output, the manufacturing sector for 29.5 percent, the
production, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and steam
for 5.7 percent, and the water, waste treatment, and recycling
sector for 0.8 percent.
Furthermore, commercial oil output in Azerbaijan declined by six
percent from January to March 2024, while commercial gas production
climbed by 5.4 percent at the same time in 2023.
In the manufacturing sector, production of metallurgical industry products increased by 49.7 percent, production of furniture by 39.0 percent, leather and leather goods, footwear by 37.3 percent, construction materials by 34.4 percent, rubber and plastic mass products by 26.2 percent, beverages by 24.5 percent, clothing by 21.1 percent, electrical equipment by 16.8 percent, production of chemical industry products by 16.7 percent, production of tobacco products by 15.6 percent, production of textile products by nine percent, and production of textile products by 9.5 percent.
The data from the State Statistics Committee showed that the production of finished metal products decreased by 0.1 percent, the production of motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers by 0.4 percent, the production of food products by 2.6 percent, the production of printing products by four percent, the production of machinery and equipment by 19.5 percent, the processing of wood and the production of wood products by 16.3 percent, the production of other vehicles by 45.1 percent, and the and the production of other industrial products by 46.9 percent.
During the reporting period, production in the sector of generation, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and steam decreased by 5.2 percent, while production in the sector of water supply, treatment, and waste processing increased by 6.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
To note, industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan produced 66.6 billion manat ($39.1 billion) worth of products in 2023.
