Azerbaijan names expenses for servicing country's state debt in 1Q2024

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 23. The repayment of the internal public debt of 66.6 million manat ($39.1 million) (on interest-bearing debt) was provided from the expenses of the state budget of Azerbaijan for servicing the public debt from January through March of this year, Trend reports.

According to the information of the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan, repayment of 1 billion manat ($587 million) (850 million manat ($499.6 million) on principal debt, 171.4 million manat ($100.7 million) on interest debt, and 10,000 manat ($5,879) on payment for banking services) has been ensured on external public debt.

Meanwhile, repayment of the state debt amounting to 1 billion manat ($587 million) was ensured in the first quarter.

Based on the current data on the use of funds within the framework of projects implemented at the expense of external borrowing and repayment of the principal debt on external public debt, as of April 1 of this year, the external public debt amounted to $5.5 billion, domestic - 16.4 billion manat ($9.6 billion).

To note, the cost of servicing public debt and liabilities in Azerbaijan in 2024 will amount to 1.9 billion manat ($1.1 billion), which is 66.8 percent more compared to the approved forecast for 2023.
