Iran's ministry of roads & urban development talks roads put into operation

About 30-60 kilometers of roads are put into operation in Iran every week, Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran Mohammad Eslami said during the event dedicated to the commissioning of a number of roads in the country's West Azerbaijan Province, Trend reports citing the ministry.

According to the minister, 800 kilometers of highways are planned to be commissioned in Iran during the government week (August 23-29) this year, the minister added.

In particular, more than 374 kilometers of roads will be commissioned during the government week in the West Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran), Eslami noted.

On August 20, 58 kilometers of roads were put into operation in Iran's West Azerbaijan Province. More than 1.8 trillion rials (about $42.8 million) were spent on the construction of these roads.

In total, there are more than 12,000 kilometers of roads in Iran's West Azerbaijan Province.
