BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 4
By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:
Iran needs 125 trillion rials (about $2.98 billion) for the laying of 636 km of highways in the Ardabil Province (north-western Iran), Director General of the Road and Urban Development Department of Ardabil Province Mahbub Heydari said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.
According to Heydari, 300 kilometers of highways are being laid in the province by the Road and Urban Development Department of Ardabil Province.
The director general also added that if the government provides 1.5 trillion rials (about $35.7 million) by the end of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), it is possible to launch 54 kilometers of these highways. For this, over the next two months, 1 trillion rials (about $23.8 million) must be provided in cash, as well as 500 billion rials (about $ 11.9 million) worth of asphalt must be supplied.
“In addition, the department owes contractors 3.5 trillion rials (about $83.3 million) for the construction of highways. It is hoped that necessary steps will be taken in next year's budget to repay the debt,” he said.
Heydari noted that 185 kilometers of highways are currently used in the province.
