Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry has commenced monitoring in wine-vodka distilleries in all regions of Azerbaijan, Sabir Valiyev, the head of a department in the Ministry, reported. About 40 alcohol enterprises are functioning in Azerbaijan.

The monitoring was held monthly on the base of the order by the Cabinet of Ministers. In case any inequality is revealed the production is delivered to the Agriculture Ministry for examination. The Ministry makes decision to continue functioning of the enterprise or not.

In 2007 the Ministry suspended the license on import of the Russian vodka due to non correspondence to the international quality. Valiyev did not exclude possibility of restoration of the license once the enterprise improves its quality.

Tax evasion became the main reason for decrease of alcohol import to the Azerbaijan Republic since April 2007. Some 190,000 decalitre of alcohol had been imported by 1 April. Presently, the figure amount to 1,000. The alcohol mainly imported from Russia and Ukraine, and wine - Europe to Azerbaijan.

Now Azerbaijani alcohol enterprises can meet demands both in Azerbaijan and in 10 other countries.
