Kazakh Company Plans to Enter Oil Transportation Market Black Sea

Kazakhstan, Astana, 22 January / corr Trend K.Konirova / The Kazakh national shipping company KazMorTransFlot plans to enter the oil transporttaion market in the Black Sea, a source at the company informed Trend.

"Following the purchase of some assets by KazMunayGas in the black Sea region, including the oil terminal Batumi and the Romanian company Rompetrol, our company plans to enter the oil transportaion market in the Black Sea," he stressed.

At present the Kazakh company is prepared to operate in the Black Sea Basin with an exit to the world's oceans, because it corresponds to requirements of international navigation security standards.

"All vessels are certified and there is a safe vessel exploitation system," he said. The company received ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificates, as well as specification of OHSAS 18001 on all types of activities.

KazMorTransFlot has 14 vessels, including three oil cargo tankers with a deadweight of 12,000 tons, three tugs, and eight barges.

All vessels of KazMorTransFlot are new. However, this number is still insufficient and there are plans to purchase an additional five oil cargo tankers with a deadweight of 12,000 tons. There are also plans to construct and acquire four dry cargo vessels.

Under the expansion of fleet for support to sea operations this year, there are plans to acquire two sea tugs and one universal vessel.

"An increase in the number of fleets engaged in the development of the Caspian Shelf requires the establishment of a specialized infrastructure for repair and service to vessels. Now the company is building a plant for repair of small vessels in the port of Bautino, which should be complete by the end of this year. Moreover, the construction of a shipyard at Kurik port is being devised," the same source said.
