Azerbaijan, Baku, 19 March / corr. Trend A. Badalova/ The production of false salt ,under the brand of Ukrainian manufacturer Artemsol, has been revealed in Azerbaijan, Miroslav Blashuk, head of the trade representation of Ukraine in Azerbaijan said at a press conference.
"The investigation by State Control over Consumer Market and State Agency for Standardization, Metrology and Patent revealed several false salt producers. Some 80 tons of packed salt, under the Ukrainian brand, have been confiscated from two false salt producers in Khirdalan settlement," Blashuk said.
The investigation conducted since 2005 revealed the cases of falsification; however, the source has not been divulged.
Arif Ashrafov, head of the State Agency for Standardization, Metrology and Patent informed of the signs that enables to distinguish the true salt from the false one.
According to Ashrafov, one package of false salt weights about 850 grams while the true one weights not less than 1 kg. Furthermore, the package of the true salt should contain relevant information including address, trade mark and telephone numbers.
According to Ashrafov, the false salt does not contain iodine and there are heavy metals in it including zinc which is harmful for the human health.
The case on the production of false salt was sent to the Prosecutor's Office, Interior Ministry and Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan for examination.
