Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 June / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / The summer harvest will be completed soon, and covered the area 377,100 hectares, the State Statistic Committee of Azerbaijan reported.

The Committee said that decrease of harvest area for some plants is due to expansion of the area for autumn harvest. The area of grain and beans (no corn) increased by 142,200 hectares or 20.2% and reached 847,400 hectares in 2008, as compared to 2007.
Ismat Abasov, Agricultural Minister of Azerbaijan, stated that some 2.6mln tons grain were produced in the country in 2008 with a demand of 3.2mln tons.
