Problem with Cargo Transportation from Georgia Prevents Exploitation Baku Subway Station

Azerbaijan, Baku, 27 August / Trend corr. E.Ismayilov / Unstable operation of the Georgian Poti Port impedes to commission the Azerbaijani subway station Icheri Sheher (former Baksovet) and currently this station is under reconstruction, the Baku metro said on 27 August.

"Situation in Georgia does not enable to put into exploitation the station in time," the metro said.

Cargo assigned for station entered the Poti port and was re-delivered to Odessa. Cargo includes hardware to establish concrete pyramids and ventilation system of the Israeli production, as well as glass of the German production.

"We hope to receive cargo by the end of next week," the metro said.

It is planned to put into exploitation the station by mid-November, while earlier it was planned by mid-October," the metro said.

Earlier, Icheri Sheher subway station was suspended for reconstruction and restoration work. At present the station is being repaired and outside concrete construction will be changed into glass transparent pyramid. The objective of changing the concrete construction into glass is to improve view of serf walls of an old city.
