Bank of Japan pumps 3 trillion yen into money markets

The Bank of Japan pumped 3 trillion yen (28.66 billion dollars) into money markets Friday as part of an emergency operation to ease the negative effects of the global financial turmoil.

This is the fourth day of the bank's operation which started Tuesday after the US investment bank Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc's declared bankruptcy, reported dpa.

Friday's liquidity injection by the central bank brings the total amount to 11 trillion yen.
