Belarus, Moldova increase trade by 60% in 2008

In 2008, the trade between Belarus and Moldova will make up $360 million, or 60% up as against 2007, BelTA learnt from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Moldova Vasily Sakovich.

Over the recent ten years, the trade between the two countries has increased six times. In the period under review, Belarus' export to Moldova increased eight times.

According to Vasily Sakovich, in 2008 the supplies of Belarusian products to Moldova will increase almost two times as against 2007. The diplomat expressed confidence that in the near two-three years the trade between Belarus and Moldova can be doubled.

Vasily Sakovich also noted the possibility of Belarus' participation in the state programmes which are implemented in Moldova.

The ambassador underscored that the Moldovan products mainly fresh and canned fruits and vegetables are in popular demand in Belarus. All in all, for the recent ten years, the supplies of Moldovan agricultural products to Belarus have increased from 8 thousand tonnes up to 66 thousand tonnes.
