Georgia’s inflation to drop to 7% in 2009

Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec. 18 / Trend , N.Kirtskhalia / In 2009, inflation in Georgia is expected to drop to seven percent," Finance Minister Nikoloz Gilauri said at the Parliament's plenary session on draft budget for 2009.

According to Gilauri, inflation will be fixed at eight percent by the end of this year, while at the moment is 6.5 percent.

"In terms of consumer prices growth, situation in Georgia is better than that in Ukraine and the countries of Eastern Europe. Inflation in Ukraine has amounted to 30 percent and in Eastern Europe to 20 percent," said Gilauri.
