Kazakhstan, Astana, June 1 / Trend K. Konirova /

Exchange of railroad sections between Kazakhstan and Russia will lead to significant reduction of distance for goods and passengers of both sides, vice-minister of transport and communications Azat Bekturov told Trend .

"Exchange of railroad sections will lead to significant reduction of distance. Moreover, we have several transit plots of the Russian side," Azat Bekturov said.

He reminded that exchange of railroad sections has been discussed for a long time since 1996.

"It was long negotiating process since 1996 when governmental decision was issued on this regards. Railroads were united during Soviet Union. Nobody considered that there will be split into independent nations. It was property issue," deputy minister said.

He also reminded that difficult issue was solved during the recent visit of Russian prime-minister Vladimir Putin to Astana.
