Turkmenistan forecasts rich cotton-wool harvest

Turkmenistan forecasted rich cotton-wool harvest in 2009. It is planned to gather 1.5 million tons cotton from 545,000 hectares. 

A governmental meeting was dedicated to cotton harvest, official Turkmen resource said.

"Rich crop was grown in the cotton fields. At present, we should be prepared to hold agricultural work for a timely harvest. We need to take all measures to ensure to collect it without loss in autumn," Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov said.

"Fulfillment of the annual commitment is our sacred duty," Berdimuhammedov added.

Turkmenistan processes the third of grown cotton domestically. European and U.S businessmen buy products of the textile industry, especially the denim fabric.
