Ali-Akbar Mehrabian, the proposed minister of industries and mines for President Ahmadinejad's new administration, has submitted his work plan for the ministry to the parliament.
The Mehr News Agency (MNA) reported that in his plan Mehrabian has highlighted the changes required in major policies of the government in the industry and mines sector.
He has suggested that the government should distant itself from leading the corporation and taking charge to policy-making, guiding and monitoring.
In his proposal, Mehrabian highlighted privatization and the need to carry on with and expedite the implementation of policies of Article 44 of the Constitution.
Mehrabian proposed a seven-point plan for the ministry as follows:
First, he stated that the policy-devising role of the ministry should be increased, and priority must be given to privatization.
Second, he suggested that manufacturers should be helped to enhance their competency with emphasis on promoting exports.
Managing the global economic crisis is the third strategy.
The fourth suggestion is that financial resources should be increased, diversified and organized.
Raising the status of education, research and technology in the industry and mines sector is the fifth proposition.
Sixth is emphasizing on justice and creating a regional balance.
And maximum usage of the capacities of industrial and mining units of the country is the seventh suggestion.
In his plan, Mehrabian also stated the ministry's supportive role in mines and mining industries, industrial manufacturing of buildings, rail and marine transportation industries, home appliances industries, chemical and petrochemical industries, fabrics and clothing, light and heavy vehicles, agricultural processing industries, and high-tech industries.
