Iran’s most advanced aluminum unit to come on stream

Iran's biggest aluminum plant named "Hormozal" with an annual capacity of 147,000 tons is to start work soon in southern Hormozgan Province.

The Mehr News Agency quoted a report by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) stating that about 400 million euros and 2 trillion rials (some $201 million) has been invested in the project.

The report added that 500 jobs will be created directly and 2,000 jobs indirectly by implementing the project.

The most advanced technology in the aluminum industry, namely the 230 KA, has been applied in the project.

Hormozal plant has been built adjacent to Almahdi aluminum plant in the city of Bandar Abbas. Almahdi plant has a capacity of 110,000 tons.

Current capacity of aluminum production in Iran is about 310,000 tons which will increase by 47 percent when Hormozal project comes on stream.
