In January-July, Azerbaijan imported around 1.1 million tons of cement and cement clinker, which is 17.8 percent lower than the same period of 2008, State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reported. Cement and cement clinkers worth around $39 million was imported in this period and this figure is by 18.2 percent less than the same period of 2008.
Cement clinker in January-July was imported in volume of 414,800 tons, 28.3 percent lower than last year. Clinker was imported in amount of $13.1 million, which is 25.6 percent lower than the figure of last year.
During the first quarter of this year, the country imported around 677,000 tons of cement, which is 9.7 percent less the January-July 2008. The cement during the period was imported worth about $26 million, which is 13.8 percent more than last year.
