Growth on Azerbaijani corporate market hits 11 percent

In three quarters of 2009, turnover of corporate securities in Azerbaijan was 344.36 million manat which is by 11.2 percent tops the figure in the same period of 2008, the State Committee on Securities reported.

Number of deals signed in this period is 1,850 compared to 4,947 in 2008.

Turnover of stakes was 264.82 million manat with a 1.2-percent increase from 2008 and growth of the primary stake market was 3.1 percent. The secondary market of stakes, placed in the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE), increased by 54 times and non-exchange operations decreased by 28.3 percent.

Turnover of the corporate bonds was 79.5 million manat with a 65.6-percent increase. The basis of the growth rate of this figure comprises growth in the secondary market for corporate bonds by 19.9 times in the BSE and 13.4 times - on the non-exchange market.

In January-September, turnover of the market for government securities amounted to 2.65 billion manat, which is 54.3 percent lower than the same period last year.

Market size of government bonds rose by 91.2 percent, reaching 511.03 million manat, and notes market of the country's Central Bank decreased by 79.2 percent and was 332.2 million manat.

Operations on REPO and reverse REPO was 1.811 billion manat.

On Nov. 3, the official exchange rate is 0.8033 manat to $1.
