ADB mulls funding major projects in Tbilisi

An Asian Development Bank's (ADB) delegation will visit Tbilisi in February to hold talks with the government, Georgian Finance Minister Kakha Baindurashvili said.

An Asian Development Bank's (ADB) delegation will visit Tbilisi in February to hold talks with the government, Georgian Finance Minister Kakha Baindurashvili said.

He said ADB is ready to contribute to the development of the transport system in Tbilisi. A project on the construction of a metro station at Tbilisi State University is one of the projects being negotiated with the bank. The bank will finance three more projects in Tbilisi, the details of which have not yet been disclosed.

The bank is negotiating the issuance of a $20-million loan with two Georgian commercial banks. The name of banks will be known in February.

ADB is interested in buying shares of large businesses in Georgia. Also, the bank is interested in energy facilities, ports and airports.
