GUAM countries satisfied with ways to attract Japanese tourists

The fourth meeting of GUAM's working group (Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova) in Baku Feb.16 is expected to achieve concrete results on tourism issues.

Member states discussed results of the "Georgia-Azerbaijan" info-tour, cooperation in the tourism sphere in 2010 and the development of a joint tourism product for Japanese tourists.

According to GUAM Secretary General Valeri Chechelashvili, today there is significant progress in the development of joint tourism products for Japanese tourists.

"A workshop organized by the Japanese side was held in Tokyo, and we are interested in providing the Japanese side with full information in order to develop a high-quality product that meets the requirements of the Japanese market," Chechelashvili said.

He said that Azerbaijani Tourism Minister Abulfaz Garayev has also expressed interest in the project.

This project has to familiarizing Japanese tourists with GUAM countries and the opportunities they offer, he said.

"We are very attentive to this project, and doing everything for it to attract interest of the Japanese public and investment," Chechelashvili said.
