In 2010 Azerbaijan doesn't expect deficit problem, Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture Ismet Abbasov said.

"Speaking about production amount is still too early, because much will depend on weather conditions," the minister said.

According to Abbasov, each farmer can gather about 25-27 quintals of grain in Azerbaijan.

Due to the fact that the country has taken serious measures to provide high quality seeds, as well as in 2009 the country imported a party of grain from Russia, and given that the country now can fully satisfy the domestic needs at its expense, then amount of the harvest of some producers may reach 45-50 quintals, he said.

In 2009, the country has carried out sowing works in 1,700 hectares of land, in 1125 hectares of which crops and legumes, including maize was planted, 111,700 hectares - vegetables and field products, 40,800 hectares of land - technical plant, 360,400 hectares of land - fedd plants

In 2009, 26.6 quintals of grain or about three million tons were harvested from each hectare. Over 2.1 million tons of food wheat was produced.
